The Senate has scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, the first reading of a constitutional amendment to allow legal entities to own media companies. The bill, which has passed the lower house, will also allow foreigners to own up to 30% of such companies. The reading should have taken place this week but with the May 1 holiday falling in mid-week the required 54 aye votes would have been impossible. The second reading is expected to happen on May 22.
