Sky loses head of strategic planning

Soon after the resignation of CEO Marcos Torres, who occupied the post for only two weeks, Sky has lost its director of strategic planning and new business, Robert Steijntjes. Mr Steijntjes was one of the executives who developed and successfully launched Sky?s interactive service project. He decided to leave about two weeks ago. Sky hasn?t made any comment on his departure or appointed a replacement yet. All executive directors are sharing responsibility for day-to-day management under the board?s supervision. No announcements have been made about a new CEO.
Retreat by Globo?
Rumors of an impending ownership shake-up for Sky are building too. Punters believe Globo could significantly reduce its stake, making way for News Corp. to become the controlling shareholder. Currently Globo has 54% and News Corp. 36%. The Marinho family has frequently denied any such intention but the rumors are persistent and have resurfaced now, fueled by Globopar?s recent admission that the group?s strategy includes reducing investment in pay-TV distribution.
