Communications Minister Juarez Quadros said Wednesday, September 19, that he plans to finish drafting the bill on foreign investment in the media by the end of the week. He?s working on a way to allow global investment funds to acquire shares in media companies, he explained, as demanded by broadcasters. Investment by funds was cut out of an early draft submitted to public comment and review and then forwarded to the Office of the Presidential Chief of Staff for approval before being sent to Congress. Having concluded discussions with the Office, Mr Quadros said he?s only waiting for a review by the ministry?s lawyers to deliver the bill and depart for next week?s ITU meeting.
