Canadian-based media group Corus Entertainment has acquired a 50% stake in animation channel Locomotion, available in 27 countries including Brazil, where it?s distributed by DirecTV, TVA, and independents. Corus announced the acquisition from Claxson Interactive Group for 10.5 million US dollars. The remaining 50% interest in Locomotion is held by Hearst. An official press release said no top management changes are planned. Besides pay-TV programmers, Corus controls radio networks, a children?s book publisher and an Internet production company. Claxson retains responsibility for selling Locomotion to affiliates in Latin America, including Brazil, said an internal source. It?s also keeping some production features and facilities used by Locomotion. No decision has been made yet about satellite uplink and downlink responsibility.
