Some pay-TV operators who belong to NeoTV are hindering sales of packages that include HBO?s premium channels (HBO, HBO2 and Cinemax). The reason is a breakdown in negotiations on pricing because of currency depreciation. ?We can?t afford to close a sale now and risk taking a loss a few weeks down the road,? says an executive. The strategy is simple: the channels are available but sales teams don?t push them. Customers who ask are told they cost up to 40 Brazilian reals per month extra (now about 11 US Dollars), depending on the operator.
