Sale of equity in affiliates will exceed 135 million US dollars

Roberto Irineu Marinho, chairman of Globo S.A., the new holding company for the group?s media investments, said the proceeds from divestment of the Marinho family?s equity stakes in local TV stations around the country will exceed the 135 million US dollars advanced by Unibanco as a bridge loan to Globopar. Besides contributing to the capitalization effort, this divestment will enable the broadcast TV network to comply with cross-ownership restrictions in the legislation. Individual members of the Marinho family may keep up to 10% in some of these affiliates, he said. Globo S.A. now owns the network?s stations in São Paulo, Rio, Brasília, Recife and Belo Horizonte.
