Canbrás grows subscriber base 3% in first quarter

Canbrás grew its subscriber base 3% to 176,100 in the first quarter of this year, achieving a penetration rate of 21%. On March 31 it had 9,900 Internet subscribers. Net sales totaled 10.8 million US dollars in the period. EBITDA was 1.9m USD and the bottom line was a net loss of 2.2m USD. It projects total sales of 50.4m USD in the year and believes the subscriber base could reach 200,000. Some 43% of its existing customers subscribe to the premium package. Average revenue per customer is 49 reals per month (now about 21 USD). Canbrás announced that it is concluding a loan agreement with BNDES, the national development bank, and partnering with Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) to connect its network to the new wireless operator?s towers when it goes live in parts of metropolitan São Paulo in July. Canbrás Communications has three new directors: José Guimarães Monforte, William D. Anderson, and Raul Rosenthal, ex-CEO of TVA.
