The bill amending article 222 of the Constitution to allow legal entities to own media groups and foreign companies to acquire up to 30% isn?t expected to pass the Senate for almost a month. There won?t be time for a vote this week and a quorum isn?t likely next week because the May 1 holiday falls on the Wednesday. Thus the bill will probably be given its first reading on May 7 or 8. The Senate?s rules require five sessions between the first and second readings. Hence final passage of the amendment is likely to happen on or around May 22.
