President Fernando Henrique Cardoso published Friday, August 23, in the Federal Register (Diário Oficial da União) a message to the Senate nominating José Leite Pereira Filho for a second term as a member of Anatel?s board of directors. The Government hopes to persuade the Senate to hear Mr Leite and ratify his reappointment next week. It?s hard to obtain a quorum in Congress at the moment because the general election is only six weeks away. Mr Leite?s current term expires on November 4.
